The Peninsula

Afternoon Tea at the Living Room at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills is one of the loveliest dining experiences of my year. My best friend, Sydney, and I both have November birthdays, and here is where we celebrate together each year.

Pictured above is the first course of this Afternoon Tea. Fresh strawberries are served with a dollop of whipped cream, and glasses of champagne or apple cider are poured for the guests. Such a beautiful and welcoming way to begin!

Along with the absolutely beautiful atmosphere and delicious food and beverages, there is also a very talented harpist that plays at certain times of the day. The soft, melodious music adds so much to this marvelous experience.

The Second Course

After the strawberries, a full array of scones, finger sandwiches, and other treats are served to each individual. With the extravagant and luxurious presentation combined with the incredible flavors, I could think of nothing more to add to this meal. While eating this fabulous food, each guest sips a tea of his/her choosing from the grand selection offered at the Peninsula. Sydney and I chose one called The Tropical Peninsula, which is flavored with black assam, mango, pineapple, and blue corn flowers. It was - to be proper - absolutely divine. We definitely drank this tea with our pinkies up.

The Dessert!

To celebrate our birthdays, little cakes known as Peninsula Cap Cakes were brought to Sydney and I. These are white sponge cakes with white chocolate, passion fruit mouse, and fondant for decoration. So cute!

This Afternoon Tea costs from $78-$95 per guest, so this is definitely a once-a-year celebratory experience. It is quite expensive, but for a special occasion, the Living Room at the Peninsula is truly the perfect choice. I am so grateful that I get to share my birthday with Sydney here! I hope you all can celebrate an event here one day too.
